El Born Cheesecake

There is a slice of Europe on the second floor of Mitsukoshi BGC, and it serves the best cheesecake in this part of the world. El Born, run by self-taught chef David Amoros with chef JJ Brian Saycon, is a family-oriented restaurant that gives its diners a masterclass in European aesthetics and flavors through its Catalan-Mediterranean cuisine. There is no other direction for the establishment to go as El Born is named after a trendy neighborhood in Barcelona, Spain.

Chef David creates dishes crafted using Catalan recipes enriched with Italian and French influences. He does, after all, keep restaurants in his hometown of Tarragona, Catalan. When you’re done delighting in its bestselling offerings like Ensalada de Gambas (prawn salad), Pollo Al Josper (roasted chicken), and La Bomba de la Barceloneta (potato stuffed with spicy pork meat), the perfect finish would be a slice or two of the El Born Cheesecake—a citrusy, creamy concoction made with premium cheese. A buttery layer of graham crust at the bottom gives it the balance it needs, but it’s the lemon zest and salt flakes on top that seal the deal. Chef David’s signature cheesecake is a dessert you won’t forget, and it’s one that’s always worth saving some room for after a meal.

The El Born Cheesecake is available at El Born, which is located on the second floor of Mitsukoshi Mall, 8th Avenue corner 36th Street, Grand Central Park, North BGC, Taguig. It’s open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. You may contact them at 0917 316 9129 for table reservations or 0917 320 3427 for cheesecake inquiries.
