Uniqlo
The Japanese have an evolutionary concept called “shibui,” a term used to describe an object or person that is both elegant and seemingly simple at the same time. This concept perfectly captures Uniqlo’s brand philosophy, that of refined simplicity. Uniqlo’s fashionable and comfortable garments are designed to be worn whenever and wherever, making them staples for any wardrobe, effortlessly blending style and practicality. Since opening its first branch in the Philippines in 2012, the brand has become so popular to the point that nearly everyone either owns or has been gifted a Uniqlo bag or piece of clothing. Its collaborations with renowned designers such as Ines de La Fressange, JW Anderson, Jil Sander, and Marni also enable Filipinos to access fashion-forward designs at a more accessible price point.
But Uniqlo goes far beyond your typical clothing brand as it has committed itself to reducing its impact on the environment through various conservation activities. A prime example would be its RE.UNIQLO Studio initiative that helps customers repair, remake, reuse, or recycle their clothes. With all of these in mind, the company gained a reputation of being one of the most successful clothing businesses in the world, ranking 84th on Forbes’ list of the World’s Most Valuable Brands in 2020.
Uniqlo has 75 stores in the Philippines as of April 2024, located in malls such as SM, Robinsons, Ayala, among others.
Price range: Clothing items range from under P299 to more than P4,000
