In just a few years as a pop star, Olivia Rodrigo has already made her mark in the music industry and captured the hearts of fans worldwide. At the young age of 21, the Filipino American former Disney star has produced chart-topping songs, earned three Grammy awards, and was even named Time’s Entertainer of the Year in 2021. Born to a Filipino father, Olivia had never been to the Philippines until October when she had the biggest homecoming ever. The singer held her biggest GUTS world tour yet at the Philippine Arena, with tickets priced at a “kababayan-friendly” P1,500 and 55,000 Filipinos rocking out to her hits. Beyond her musical influence, the driver’s license singer champions women’s issues through her charity called Fund 4 Good. She donated ticket proceeds from her Bulacan show to Jhpiego, a nonprofit providing women access to reproductive healthcare. While she’s only performed to the country once so far, Filipinos can’t wait for their “pinsan” to come home and make waves with her music and heart for causes again.
