Trina McGee revealed she suffered a miscarriage three months after announcing she was pregnant at 54 years old.

In her guest appearance on Tamron Hall Show with her husband, Marcello Thedford, on Sept. 23, McGee opened up about losing her baby.

"It wasn’t expected—it was closer to the end of the first trimester. We really don’t have any real reasons why,” she said in the show's latest episode.

McGee, who turned 55 last Sept. 6, added, “I was still so grateful to have the experience of being able to conceive at this age and at this time."

The Daylight actress mused on how she dealt with this difficult time, saying it made her experience depression.

"A lot of depression after," she shared. "It was just kind of hard to get out of bed. There are so many things that come when you really want a family, and you want your family to be complete. There are so many dreams that you have. It was very hard to like, face the fact that that's not going to happen.”

For his part, Marcello said that processing the unfortunate event has been “hard,” sharing that he used to hold McGee's tummy every night and talk to their unborn child, whom they were supposed to name “Sunny.”

“We just had dreams and aspirations of what that would be like creating this new tribe,” he said, saying the miscarriage also hurt him.

The actress, who is also mom to her kids Ramia, 33, and Langston, 30, and Ezra, 26—recalled being so thrilled to learn she was pregnant, especially since they were trying to conceive at the time via natural remedies.

McGee furthered that "so many women that have come to reach out" after she announced her pregnancy in June, "of course not knowing this is end of it."

While she said she has received criticism for being pregnant at such age, she saw it as a good thing as she was able to spark hope in other women who are also trying to conceive.

"There were so many women who, even at 55 and older, still want to get pregnant or don’t want to be boxed into this ‘geriatric pregnancy’ thing,” McGee said. “I don’t know if I’m here to give advice for everybody, because everybody’s body is different, and you should listen to your doctors.”

"Part of me doesn’t ever want to go through this again," she opened up. "The conclusion I came to is, we’ll just keep loving each other, if something happens that way, fine, but I don’t want to put another anxiety on myself. I feel sometimes it really is better to let go and let God."

Trina has been married to actor Marcello for 16 years. They met in the production of Sylvester Stallone’s action-thriller movie, Daylight.

She is notable for her role as Angela Moore in the 90s sitcom Boy Meets World. Her other shows and films include Daylight, Friday After Next, and The Sinbad Show.
