Angelina Jolie shares she got matching tattoos with her daughter Vivienne

Matching tattoos between a mother and child profoundly express their unique bond. Take it from Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, who recently revealed that she has matching tattoos with her 16-year-old daughter Vivienne to commemorate the Broadway musical they worked on together.

"I got ‘Stay Gold’ with my daughter Viv during our time with ‘The Outsiders," the 49-year-old actress said in an interview with CR Fashion Book.

While Angelina's tattoo was scripted on her left forearm, she didn't indicate where Vivienne's tattoo was inked. Nonetheless, she said that this tattoo means so much to the mother-and-daughter duo.

"It means so much to us separately and together."

In April, the American actress and filmmaker showed off her tattoo on the red carpet at the opening night of The Outsiders, which she attended with Vivienne.

In the musical, Angelina served as a producer, while Viviene was billed as a producer's assistant. It was directed by Danya Taymor and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, bagging four awards, including Best New Musical, Best Director, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design. It also served as Angelina's first Tony award.

In case you didn't know, "Stay Gold" is a famous quote from The Outsiders and one of the songs in the musical. According to Fox News, the line references Robert Frost's poem Nothing Gold Can Stay.

The Broadway musical was based on S.E. Hinton's 1967 book of the same name. In 1983, Francis Ford Coppola adapted it into a film starring A-list actors Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe, and Emilio Estevez.

'My daughter Viv loves theater'

In an interview with Deadline, the Maleficent star said that her daughter inspired her to produce the Broadway musical.

"My daughter Viv loves theater. She appreciates all theater but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to. She went to see The Outsiders at La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I’d seen the film years ago," she said.

Viviene and her twin brother Knox are among the children of Angelina with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, alongside sons Maddox and Pax and daughters Zahara and Shiloh.
