Anthony Jennings issues apology amid Maris Racal cheating controversy

Anthony Jennings issued a statement amid the cheating controversy with Maris Racal.

“Sa lahat ho ng mga nangyari noong nakaraang araw, sa lahat ho ng nasaktan ko, especially po si Maris saka si Jam, humihingi ho ako ng tawad sa dalawang babae, and sa lahat po ng mga nadamay doon. 'Yon lamang po, sorry po ulit,” he said in a video uploaded on YouTube.

Earlier on Friday, Maris also gave her side, stressing that in June 2024, she was "lonely" and was getting "the kind of attention that I needed," from Anthony. At that time, she just broke up with her ex-boyfriend Rico Blanco.

"When I sensed that there was this brewing attraction between Anthony and I, nadala ako sa emotions ko and I knew that was wrong," she told ABS-CBN News.

She stressed that she did not know that Anthony was still in a relationship when they were becoming close.

Social media noise broke out on Dec. 3 after Anthony's ex-girlfriend Jam Villanueva shared Anthony and Maris' text exchanges, which showed that the two had an intimate affair while Anthony was still with Jam. She also posted photos of the two seemingly getting cozy during their work trips together.

"I've been trying to hold myself together through everything that's been happening. But after hearing all the things being said about me—about my character, my intentions, and even my family, I can’t stay silent any longer,” Jam said in her initial story entry. "There's only so much silence a person can bear when rumors twist the truth. I'm sharing this because I need to set the record straight—not to create more drama, but because I deserve to be heard, just like anyone else."

"When Maris came into the picture, I was genuinely happy for you both. I even chose to be supportive, despite the red flags I couldn't ignore. I respected your craft. I believed in you both. But betrayal like this cuts deep,” she added.

Anthony and Maris were co-stars in the hit teleserye, Can't Buy Me Love. They also have an upcoming drama titled Incognito, which is set to premiere in January 2025.
