Paolo Contis denies being resentful to GMA Network amid 'Tahanang Pinakamasaya' closure
Paolo Contis quashed rumors of his ill feelings towards GMA-7, days after his noontime show Tahanang Pinakamasaya went off air earlier this March.
Paolo, who celebrated his birthday on March 15, was asked what his wish was on his special day at the launching of GMA Entertainment Group’s "Basta’t Sama-Sama… Best Time Ever" campaign a day after.
While he shared that he didn't wish for anything, he took the time to express his gratitude towards GMA-7 and address rumors that he resented his home network.
"I wanna thank GMA for always supporting me, for always supporting the show. May kumalat po na may tampo ako sa GMA. Hindi po ‘yun totoo, pero pagbigyan na po natin ‘yung mga nagkakalat noon," Paolo said.
"Content po nila ‘yun, para po sa kanila ‘yun, pero it’s not true. I love GMA, and I’m very thankful to GMA. They’ve been supporting me during the time na kahit hindi ako kasupo-suporta. So walang dahilan para magtampo ako sa GMA," he added.
His statements come after Tahanang Pinakamasaya, where he served as one of the main hosts, aired its last episode on March 8.
Producer TAPE Inc. announced the end of the noontime show after airing a replay on March 7, but did not go into details as to why it ended less than a year after it premiered on June 5, 2023.
"GMA 7’s kind consideration and understanding of the company’s unwanted circumstances have been instrumental in helping the company in this transition," the company said. "Despite our best efforts to save the show, both parties have reached a mutual agreement to finally call off the show."
TAPE also thanked "the loyal viewers, esteemed hosts, supporting advertisers, hardworking crew, and dedicated employees who have been with us from the very beginning."
Apart from Paolo, other hosts of the TAPE noontime show were Isko Moreno, Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, Chariz Solomon, and Mavy and Cassy Legaspi.
Tahanang Pinakamasaya was formerly GMA Network’s noontime show Eat Bulaga! before it underwent rebranding after losing an arduous trademark case against Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon.
TVJ, who transferred to TV5 for a new show called E.A.T. following internal issues with TAPE, started using the Eat Bulaga! theme again after the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines settled the issue.
