Taylor Swift defends Lady Gaga against false pregnancy rumors: 'It's invasive and irresponsible'

Taylor Swift is voicing out her disappointment at social media users who are creating false rumors about Lady Gaga being pregnant.

On TikTok, Gaga posted a video of herself shutting down pregnancy rumors that have been hounding her over the weekend while referencing Swift's Down Bad song, the fourth track on her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

"Not pregnant—just down bad cryin at the gym," Gaga wrote in the caption.

In the clip, she also lip-synced to an audio that said, "I don't have to find an aesthetic; I am the aesthetic. I mean, I'm sure there's somebody out here right now who is going into Pinterest trying to type up all these adjectives to describe me."

Swift later commented on the video herself and gave those rumor-mongering a piece of her mind.

"Can we all agree that it's invasive and irresponsible to comment on a woman’s body. Gaga doesn’t owe anyone an explanation and neither does any woman," the singer stressed.

Many social media users agreed with her and praised her for coming to Gaga's defense.

"YOU ARE RIGHT TAYYYY!! People (especially media) should learn that a woman's body is not something they can comment on," one user commented.

Another wrote, "Very well said, love you always, mother."

In a report by The Sun, pregnancy rumors started circulating Gaga when she was spotted with an apparent bump at her sister Natali Germanotta's rehearsal dinner for her wedding and on the big day itself.

The popstar's makeup artist Sarah Tanno later made a post about it on X, writing, "Honestly, it’s really sad that she had to address this because people were commenting about her body, people should not be allowed to comment on other people’s body, fans have been saying for years that’s she was pregnant, just because how she looks in certain outfits."

"Why spread a rumor about somebody that you care about or love? It does affect people’s mental health, people should not be body shaming people or assuming they are pregnant when they aren’t!" she added.

Gaga is currently busy working on an upcoming seventh studio album that she announced through Gaga Chromatica Ball. Apart from this, she is also set to star with Joaquin Phoenix in the film Joker: Folie à Deux in October 2024.
