Yasmien Kurdi and Jeric Gonzales confirmed to join ‘Start-Up’ Pinoy remake

Two big names have been added to the cast of Start-Up’s Pinoy adaptation. 

Yasmien Kurdi and Jeric Gonzales have been confirmed to join the Pinoy remake of the K-drama Start-Up, alongside Alden Richards and Bea Alonzo. GMA Network announced Kurdi and Gonzales’ casting on GMA 7’s 24 Oras on Tuesday, Mar. 15. 

Kurdi admitted that she has always been a huge fan of the popular Korean series. “Sa kasagsagan ng lockdown, ito ‘yung pinapanood ko talaga at fan ako ng mga artista nito.”

“Kaya noong sinabi s’akin regarding the show, sobrang na-excite ako. Sabi ko, ‘Talaga?’ [Nag-go] na ko talaga. Hindi na ko nag-isip na hindi pa tanggapin,” Kurdi said.

The actress also revealed that she’s preparing immensely for Start-Up’s Pinoy remake since it will be her first time to work with Richards, Alonzo, and Gonzales. 

“I’m so excited kasi it’s a new set of cast and it's very refreshing, it’s very new. Ang saya lang kasi ang tagal ko na rin silang gustong maka-work at finally, makakasama ko na sila ngayon,” Kurdi said.

On the other hand, Gonzales admitted that being part of Start-Up’s cast will be his “big break” in showbiz. “Nand’un din ‘yung pressure, of course. But it’s a good pressure na ma-challenge ako rito sa role na ‘to.” 

Gonzales added that he’s “excited” to challenge himself as an actor by sharing the spotlight with Richards, Alonzo, and Kurdi.

According to GMA Network, it was Richards himself who recommended Gonzales to be part of the cast. 

However, the roles that Kurdi and Gonzales will portray are yet to be revealed.

Start-Up is a slice-of-life Korean series that revolves around entrepreneurs who want to make a name for themselves in the start-up industry.
