It’s impossible to miss out on Ji Chang-wook when talking about noteworthy names in the Korean entertainment industry. After all, his breathtaking visuals and diverse filmography are enough to catch the attention of a curious K-drama fan.

As proven by his character in The Sound of Magic, Chang-wook’s strength as an actor emerges in his eyes. He portrayed various roles such as a lawyer, architect, and convenience store manager—but his sparking eyes have a unique ability of allowing the viewers to dive into his soul.

As we count the days to his long-awaited Manila fanmeet on November 6, let us first indulge in five of his most nakakakilig na K-dramas to date.

Suspicious Partner (2017)
SBS

The 2017 rom-com sees Chang-wook as Noh Ji-wook, a prosecutor who loses his job in the middle of a case where his trainee Eun Bong-hee (Nam Ji-hyun) was accused of being a murderer. An unexpected turn of events saw Ji-wook falling for Bong-hee as they try to work together to solve mysteries around them.

Chang-wook flexing his acting skills in the enemies to lovers trope was such a delight, that seeing his romantic scenes with Ji-hyun definitely drove us to the edge of our seats.

The K2 (2016)

A former soldier who’s hungry for justice, Chang-wook shines as Kim Je-ha in the political melodrama. He soon develops feelings for Go An-na (Im Yoo-na) and goes beyond his duty to ensure her safety.

If you want to see the actor showing off his action star-inspired chops, this K-drama shows him as the ideal knight in shining armor we all wish to have.

Lovestruck in the City (2020-2021)

We don’t know if Ji Chang-wook fell in love with a complete stranger in real life because he embodies Park Jae-won in Lovestruck in the City so well. The romance drama features the actor as an architect who gets emotionally invested in a mysterious woman named Lee Eun-oh (Kim Ji-won).

The storyline is bittersweet since Jae-won finds the strength to keep his love for Eun-oh going—even after getting betrayed. Yet it makes viewers wish for someone who’s willing to accept them for who they are.

Healer (2014-2015)
SBS2

Complicated plot aside, Healer stole the hearts of K-drama aficionados with its intense action scenes and romance. The drama was another opportunity for Chang-wook to show his action star-esque skills as undercover reporter Seo Jung-hoo and Park Bong-soo.

Chang-wook admitted that the thriller romance had the “most affectionate scenes,” hoping that the viewers enjoyed his chemistry with leading lady Park Min-young. Even so, it shows how the actor is born to be an action star.

Backstreet Rookie (2020)
SBS TV

A convenience store manager who makes teenagers swoon, Choi Dae-hyun (Ji Chang-wook) is the perfect example of adorable chaos. Aside from the kilig scenes with Kim Yoojung, the slice-of-life drama is proof that the actor is indeed a natural comedian.
