Rommel Padilla hoping for reconciliation between Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo

Rommel Padilla is hopeful that his son Daniel Padilla and his ex-girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo will mend their broken relationship.

In an interview uploaded on TikTok by Stars Photog, the former action star expressed his optimism for the pair's reconciliation, noting it's normal for couples to go through hurdles together.

"Talagang nangyayari ‘yan eh. Dumadating ‘yung puntong nagkakasubukan," he said.

"Pero para sa akin, I still pray na sana dumating ‘yung panahon na magkita sila ulit, magkaunawaan dahil napakalaking panahon ‘yung nilaan nila sa pagmamahalan nila. Kaya ipinagdarasal ko na sana manumbalik pa ang kanilang pagmamahalan," he continued.

Rommel advised Daniel and Kathryn to spend this time apart by reflecting on their feelings for each other and how they can move forward from the past.

"Habang sila mga single, sana magmuni-muni muna talaga sila o timbangin nila ‘yung kanilang naging pagmamahalan sa kasalukuyan," Rommel said.

He continued, "Dapat bang the same? Dapat ba tayong magkabalikan? I guess ito ‘yung time na ‘yun eh. Makikita nila sa mga darating na araw."

Daniel and Kathryn confirmed their relationship in 2018, but breakup rumors surrounded them in the latter part of 2023.

It wasn't until Nov. 30 that the two made separate announcements about the end of their relationship after 11 years. Kathryn reasoned that they simply drifted apart despite their best efforts to keep the flame alive.

"Like any other relationship, we tried our best to make it work. We've been drifting apart for a while now, and we ultimately had to accept that we can't go back to where we used to be. It just won't be fair to pretend that everything is still the same," the actress detailed.

Despite their breakup, they appear to be on good terms as seen in their appearances in various events like the ABS-CBN Christmas Special and Asia Artist Awards in December 2023.
