Park Hyung-sik, Heo Joon-ho to star in new drama
Here's some good news for you, K-drama lovers! Park Hyung-sik is set to star in a new series with Heo Joon-ho.
South Korean TV network SBS confirmed on Friday, Sept. 13 that the Korean stars will play the lead roles in the upcoming drama dubbed Treasure Island, according to a report by K-entertainment outlet Soompi.
The new offering follows the story of a man who hacks a political slush fund account worth 2 trillion won (P84 billion). In a twist of events, he gets killed by someone who has no idea he’s been hacked, making him lose all the money.
Hyung-sik will star as Seo Dong Joo, the leader of the Daesan Group chairperson’s Public Affairs team. Despite appearing as a loyal “Daesan man,” he has a hidden agenda to take over the whole company.
Joon-ho, meanwhile, will play the role of Yum Jang Sun, a former head of the National Intelligence Service (NIS). Jang Sun manipulates kingmakers from behind and secretly holds the strings to all of society.
Slated for a 2025 release, the series will be written by Lee Myung-hee and directed by Jin Chang-gyu, who also helmed Military Prosecutor Doberman starring Ahn Bo-hyun.
Hyung-sik is known for his roles in Doctor Slump, Happiness, Our Blooming Youth, and Strong Girl Bong-soon, while Joon-ho is famous for his characters in Silmido, Dr. Cheon Lost Talisman, and Missing: The Other Side.
