Kris Bernal on breastfeeding: 'It's not easy for every mama'
Kris Bernal opened up about her breastfeeding journey as well as the challenges that come with it.
In a now-expired Instagram story, the first-time mom said she's opting to breastfeed her newborn because she knows it's "worth it."
"The challenges of breastfeeding. I do it because it's worth it. Just thinking about the many benefits of breastfeeding for my baby, it's worth fighting for, it's worth the sacrifices," she mused.
"But I'll be honest, it's not easy for every mama. Period," she added.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breastfeeding "can help protect babies against some short- and long-term illnesses and diseases." The CDC added that breastfed babies "have a lower risk of asthma, obesity, type 1 diabetes, and sudden infant death syndrome."
Kris welcomed her child Hailee Luca with her husband Perry Choi on Aug. 15.
"It has been the most magical day of our lives," she shared. While she had "the longest pregnancy and hardest labor," Kris said she "would do it over so many times to meet my #LittleSunshine."
Reflecting on motherhood, the Kapuso celebrity described the bond between a mother and a child as "one of the strongest in existence."
"I'm so in love. It's a kind of love that is never understood until it happens to you," she said.
Kris announced her pregnancy in March via a movie-themed maternity shoot titled When Two Become Three.
She got engaged to Perry in February 2020. They tied the knot in September 2021.
