Jak Roberto says he never gets jealous of Barbie Forteza and David Licauco's love team: 'Mahalaga 'yung trust'

The BarDa (Barbie and David) chemistry is strong, but Jak Roberto’s love and trust in his longtime relationship with Barbie Forteza remains superior.

In the Aug. 21 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the Kapuso star shared why he remains “unbothered” about the strong chemistry and fan services of his girlfriend, Barbie, and her on-screen partner, David Licauco.

“Hindi po ako nagseselos Tito Boy, mula’t mula po,” he confidently told the “King of Talk.”

Host Boy Abunda then asked if Barbie ever got jealous of his on-screen partners in the past, but Jak directly said no.

“Kasi sa’min Tito Boy, sabi ko nga, siguro nagkataon na parehas kaming artista. Kasi, I think kung non-showbiz ‘yung magiging ka-relasyon namin, ang hirap talaga ipa-intindi,” he explained.

“Sa relasyon ko, ‘yung girlfriend ko artista, ako rin as boyfriend niya, artista, naiintindihan namin ‘yung work namin,” he added.

Since Barbie and David's “FiLay” tandem in the GMA series Maria Clara at Ibarra—where they played Fidel (David) and Klay (Barbie)—fans can’t help but continuously ship the two, especially since they have an upcoming movie remake, Maging Sino Ka Man.

The hunk actor said he does not get mad at the teasing comments about their relationship, but shared that he gets dismayed whenever the fans go below the belt with their comments.

“Actually Tito Boy, nalulungkot ako sa mga Filipino mindset natin na, siyempre hindi naman masisi kasi kahit naman ako maging fan ng isang artista talagang magiging ganun din ‘yung pakiramdam ko,” he began.

“Nakakalungkot lang po kasi may mga comments na parang pinepersonal na, minsan nakakapagsabi na ng hindi magandang salita,” he added.

Despite all this, Jak chooses to understand the fans’ sentiments, understanding how they are public figures and how Philippine showbiz works, especially when it comes to love teams.

“Pero ako as artista and alam ko ‘tong ginagalawan kong mundo, alam kong public figure po ako, naiintindihan ko po lahat ‘yan,” he said. “Nalulungkot lang ako sa iba, sana maintindihan nila ‘yung trabaho tsaka sa personal na buhay,” he stressed.

The Meant To Be actor further shared how he and his girlfriend work separately in their craft as actors, stressing that they don’t set rules or boundaries on roles that may affect their relationship.

“Wala po talaga kaming pakialamanan sa trabaho, kumbaga parehas po kaming aktor pero ‘pag dating sa trabaho, trabaho po, pag dating sa love life, love life po talaga,” he said.

Curious about their security as a couple, Boy asked Jak how they assure each other, with Jak highlighting the importance of trust in the relationship.

“Mahalaga Tito yung trust, kasi alam naman namin sa isa’t isa na trabaho lang ‘yun,” he said. “As long as nagtitiwala kami sa isa’t isa na trabaho lang siya, wala naman pong nagiging problema.”

He also shared they are so secure that he did not feel any jealousy at all in their six-year relationship.

“Kaya siguro talaga naging professor ako ng Anti-selos class,” he quipped.

Joining in the “Anti-Selos class” meme, Jak recently shared a short clip, where he gave advice or “lessons” to his co-actors opening up about their relationship problems.

“Face to face Anti Selos Class!” he wrote in his Instagram post on Aug. 7.
