'Taxi Driver' has been renewed for season 3
SBS has officially renewed Taxi Driver for a third season.
The renewal comes a day after the season 2 finale, which set a new record with the highest ratings of any miniseries to air in South Korea this year. The final episode ended with an average nationwide rating of 21.0 percent.
A representative of the production team confirmed the news to the media, saying “Taxi Driver was recently confirmed for a Season 3. We plan to start discussions with the actors, writer, and director from now on.”
According to Soompi, the production team "is still in talks with the cast members" regarding their return as well as the filming schedule.
Lead star Lee Je Hoon, for his part, expressed his interest in returning for another season as Kim Do-Gi.
"The actors of course are greatly anticipating Season 3 with hopes of joining [the cast]. I have not received an official offer yet. Although I obviously want to do it, I think there is still a difficult element of just saying that I will do it."
“I haven’t thought about Season 3 in detail yet, but I think I want to continue the current format,” mentioning the Rainbow Taxi service as well as the drama’s signature theme song and retro vibes," he continued.
Taxi Driver is based on the popular webtoon of the same name about a mysterious taxi service that seeks "revenge on criminals who get away with their evil deeds."
