Wedding bells a-ringing as Jason Abalos reveals engagement with Vickie Rushton
Actor Jason Abalos and beauty queen Vickie Rushton are now engaged.
"Habambuhay ko pasasalamat ang Panginoon sa buhay mo Baba," Abalos said in an Instagram post June 2, calling Rushton by her pet name. "Patugtugin na ang kampana!" He also wrote "9/1/21," denoting that he popped the question on Sept. 1, 2021.
Taguig-based "Events by Miss P" also confirmed the good news in an Instagram Story.
"It's official!!! Congratulations to our soon-to-be bride and groom," read the IG story's text, which was also shared by Rushton. "We love you soooo much! See you both tomorrow," pertaining to June 3.
Rushton, meanwhile, in another Instagram post said she and her Baba "have been keeping a little secret… 🤍" She also posted the same photo in Abalos's post, as well as a photo of a handprint on the shore.
"'When the time is right I, the Lord, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22," Rushton wrote, quoting a verse from the Holy Bible.
A Facebook user also shared the news in the public group "Homepaslupa Buddies 3.0," which has over 400,000 members, including Abalos himself.
"Mukhang nangangamoy Shanghai mga ka'hampy!!! Congrats," the user wrote, pertaining to the staple dish in Filipino feasts. "Walang iyakan ha para safe. Chareeng! Hahaha."
Abalos saw the post and replied, "Salamat. Hindi kayo imbitado pero wala naman ako magagawa kung pupunta kayo ugali na yan eh." His comment got thousands of Haha reactions and hundreds of replies.
In July 2021, Abalos said he wants to start a family with Rushton already. In June of that year, the model announced that she'll be retiring from the world of pageantry.
She ended her 2019 Binibining Pilipinas journey in the Top 15. She previously settled for first runner-up at the Binibining Pilipinas 2018.
