Will Smith said Jada Pinkett Smith’s bombshell memoir “woke him up,” realizing that the latter has been living “on the edge” in the past years.

“I applaud and honor you. If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would’ve hugged you more,” Will wrote in the letter, which was read by Jay Shetty during Jada’s appearance on his podcast.

“I’ll start now. Welcome to the Authors Club," he continued.

"I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest,” he added.

Jada expressed her appreciation for what Will said. “He knows I can’t have no Merlot.”

“That’s beautiful,” she said. “That’s why I can’t divorce that joker.”

The Pursuit of Happyness star also shared with The New York Times that Jada’s memoir “woke him up,” realizing that his ex-wife has been living "on the edge" for years. He also noted how she has been more resilient, clever, and compassionate than he has ever realized.

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in,” he wrote. “And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”

Ex-lovers Jada and Will have been making headlines the past week following the release of her memoir dubbed Worthy, where she talked about her significant life events, including their separation in 2016 and the controversial Chris Rock slap, among others.

Sharing the reason for their separation, Jada said that they got "exhausted with trying."

“I think by the time we got to 2016 we were just exhausted with trying,” she said during her interview with TODAY about her new book. “I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be."

The two, however, aren't legally divorced. They're just living separately at the moment.

“I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever,” she continued. “And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”

Jada and Will first met on the set of his sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1994. They share two children: Jaden and Willow.
