Philippines' Hannah Arnold shares Japanese proverb that guided her in Miss International 2022 journey
“Ue o mireba kagiri nashi.”
That’s the Japanese proverb that Philippine bet Hannah Arnold kept in mind throughout her Miss International 2022 journey. In English, it translates to “There is no end/limit to what you can achieve”—a quote that helped her get through different challenges and gave her hope in the past few weeks.
“My Miss International journey was absolutely unforgettable. It may seem cliche but I will truly be returning home with a grateful heart, a camera roll full of irreplaceable memories, many new sisters and mamas from around the world, and the realization that we truly can achieve anything,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“Philippines, it was an honor to wear you across my heart for the past 2 years. I am proud to be Filipino. Mahal ko kayo,” she continued, expressing her gratitude to Bb. Pilipinas for the opportunity to represent the country to the 60th edition of the prestigious pageant. “It has been a privilege being your Binibini.”
Arnold also gave a special shoutout to her supporters and loved ones who have been there for her since day one, including her family and instructors who listened to her “every day of the competition, no matter what time it was.” She also thanked them for giving her much-needed advice and reminding her of her purpose throughout her journey.
“For the last time, I am Hannah Consencino Arnold, your Binibining Pilipinas International 2021 and Miss International 2022 Top 15 finalist. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” she concluded.
Arnold ended her journey to the highly coveted title in the Top 15 at the Dec. 13 coronation night held in Tokyo, Japan.
The Philippines has bagged six crowns from the pageant. The latest titleholder from the country is actress Kylie Verzosa, who took it home in 2016.
