Here's why Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes found it challenging to do intimate scenes for their comeback film
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera may be husband and wife, but doing intimate scenes in movies still makes them feel embarrassed.
The reel to real couple made waves as they made an appearance on noontime show It's Showtime, where they had a chance to talk about their upcoming film Rewind that serves as their comeback movie after more than a decade.
As Dingdong was asked by host Jhong Hilario about what he's most grateful for in the past year, the actor said, "Para sa akin, grateful ako na sa taong ito, nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon na makatrabaho ang asawa ko kasi sobrang busy po niya."
"Nung binigyan kami ng chance to work together, parang hindi kami nagtatrabaho, para kaming nagde-date araw araw kaya pinagpapasalamat ko talaga 'yun," he added.
The last time that the husband and wife tandem starred in a movie together was 13 years ago in 2010. This was for the romantic comedy film You to Me Are Everything, in which Marian plays a simple girl who suddenly strikes it rich while Dingdong plays a wealthy man whose luck is turned upside down after losing everything.
But is there a difference when the two of them are at work compared to when they're at home?
"Palagi kong sinasabi, parang wala," Marian answered. "Kasi kung ano kami sa bahay, ganun din kami sa trabaho namin. So ang palaging niloo-look forward lang namin ay magkasama kami together kasi sa bahay may mga kids eh so nahahati [ang attention]. Kaunti lang [kay Dingdong], marami sa kids."
Despite already being married, Dingdong admitted that he found it challenging to do kissing scenes with Marian during the production of Rewind.
"'Yun 'yung pinakanahirapan kaming eksena, 'yung kissing scene namin kasi hindi namin alam paano gagawin. Dapat ganun ba, dapat ganito? So 'yun 'yung pinag-uusapan namin pauwi," Dingdong said.
"Sa dami ng ginawa namin doon sa movie na medyo mabibigat na eksena, doon kami medyo nailang, sa aming intimate scenes. Ang weird kasi malalaman niyo kung paano kami sa personal. Ang hirap i-acting," Marian added.
She continued, "Sabi namin kay direk [Mae Cruz-Alviar], 'Pwede bang dim light lang, may silhouette lang kami?'"
Rewind is set to be released on Dec. 25 as one of the official entries for the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival. Centering on a married couple in a rocky relationship, the story follows the husband's journey to redeem himself from his ill treatment of his wife, who perished in a car accident, by going back in time before he loses everything.
Marian and Dingdong got married in 2014. Their love for each other eventually blessed them with two children: a daughter named Zia and a son named Sixto.
