K-Pop girl group fromis_9 to leave PLEDIS Entertainment
K-Pop girl group fromis_9 is leaving PLEDIS Entertainment.
The agency released a statement on Nov. 29 about the group's departure.
"The exclusive contract with fromis_9 (Lee Sae Rom, Song Ha Young, Park Ji Won, Roh Ji Sun, Lee Seo Yeon, Lee Chae Young, Lee Na Gyung, Baek Ji Heon) will expire this coming December 31," it said.
"We discussed at length and in depth with the members of fromis_9 regarding each member's future and direction and have come to an amicable conclusion to end the exclusive artist contract."
The eight-piece group was formed in 2017 through the reality show Idol School. Initially, fromis_9 had nine members, before Jang Gyu Ri left in July 2022.
In 2018, they debuted a year later under Stone Music Entertainment, dropping their first EP To. Heart. The group was managed by Off the Record Entertainment from September of that year until August 2021 when PLEDIS Entertainment was put in charge of managing the group.
Under the label, they released music including Talk & Talk, DM, Stay This Way, #menow, and Supersonic.
PLEDIS said that the group will release a "fan song" on December 23 and attend final engagements as artists under the agency.
"We wholeheartedly support the future endeavors of fromis_9. Thank you fans once again, for always being with fromis_9. Please continue to send fromis_9 your unwavering love and support,' the label's statement ended.
