Billy Crawford addresses allegations that he's a drug addict

Billy Crawford reacted to drug addiction allegations as he explained his drastic weight loss.

In an interview on GMA's 24 Oras on Wednesday, July 10, the actor said he's aware of the speculations that have been circulating on social media since his rapid weight loss and noted he has "nothing to hide."

"It's like a circle sa buhay ko. It's a non-stop conversation is my 'nutrition' or my diet. I'm not on a diet," Billy opened up.

"Sa mga nakakakilala sa akin, I am by far one of the few artists [who] are the ones who don't try drugs. We can all take a strand of our hair and do tests ngayon din. Puwede kong hamunin lahat ng tao dito ngayon. No problem. I have nothing to hide," he said.

"Hindi po ako adik. Adik ako sa pamilya ko. Adik ako sa trabaho ko, and that's it. I'm living, I think, my life to the fullest right now," he continued.

The 42-year-old also said that the claims used to affect him at first, but he eventually got used to them over time.

"It used to faze me. It used to get me. It used to may kurot ng konti. Pero now, it really doesn't anymore. Nakakatawa na lang," Billy said.

Just last month, his wife, actress Coleen Garcia, also addressed the claims about Billy and stressed his weight loss is "not an unhealthy thing."

"We've addressed it so many times, to the point na nakakapikon for him kasi how do you change the way you look 'di ba?" she said in the June 6 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. "Whatever he looks like right now, it's not an unhealthy thing."

Billy has been the subject of drug abuse accusations since last year. In July 2023, he denied the rumors and said he's been sober for years.

The former It's Showtime host has been vocal about suffering from alcohol addiction in the past, when he would spend nights alone just downing a bottle of whiskey. He said it eventually took a toll on his health to the point that his weight reached 235 pounds. Coleen also previously admitted that their relationship "went through so many lows" because of his uncontrollable drinking.
