LOOK: Reese Lansangan and Carly Rae Jepsen had an unexpected meet-up in Tokyo, Japan
Imagine meeting one of your favorite artists in, get this, Japan. Such is the case for Filipino indie artist Reese Lansangan when she unexpectedly saw pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen along the streets of Shibuya.
In an Instagram post, the Home singer shared that she met Jepsen completely by the chance last Aug. 27. Luckily, Reese was carrying a vinyl copy of her latest album, Time Well Spent, which she gave the singer as a gift.
Adding more magic to the story, Reese shared that she had been hunting for Jepsen's LPs in Japan's Tower Records store a few days before they met.
"We had a lovely chat, told her I just watched her in Summer Sonic (and in Manila before COVID), and that she inspires many women to write music that’s fun, honest, and at times super coy in the best way possible," Reese wrote.
"Told her she could keep my vinyl and she said “Are you sure I can keep it? What a great gift!”
"Meeting such a brilliant songwriter on the streets of this city IS THE GIFT!!! Enjoy the rest of your stay! Until your next concert, I’ll be there in the audience again," Reese concluded.
The indie artist has been studying in Japan since the start of the year, while Jepsen is in town to celebrate the 7th year anniversary of her album Emotion.
The Call Me Maybe singer also recreated the music video for the song Run Away With Me in the same crossing a few days later.
