WATCH: Stray Kids flirts with their wild side in ‘Maniac’ music video
Stray Kids is ready to “go crazy like a loose screw” in their much-anticipated comeback.
The K-pop boy group has made a powerful return to the music scene with their ninth mini-album Oddinary and its title track Maniac. The music video and EP were released on Friday, March 18.
“Let’s go relax, everyone / Stop pretending to be normal / All of your smiles look weird / When the lock is released, we’re all the same,” Bang Chan opens after he “kicked” the screen.
Stray Kids, who introduced themselves as “self-produced idols,” said in an allkpop report that Maniac is about empowering their fans to express their “unique and special” selves.
“We wanted to express that [anyone can be] odd, unordinary, unique, and special. Rather than arguing about what’s normal and abnormal, you can expand your ability to grow by thinking that everyone has something special and extraordinary,” member Changbin said.
Stray Kids was created through the 2017 reality series of the same name. The boy group eventually made their debut under JYP Entertainment in March 2018.
The group is composed of eight members, namely, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N.
