Former 'Lord of the Rings' stars Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd reunite
The former stars of the hit Peter Jackson's film The Lord of the Rings reunited over the weekend!
In an Instagram post, British actor Dominic Monaghan, who played hobbit Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck in the trilogy, uploaded a reunion photo with his costars featuring Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, and Billy Boyd, who portrayed elf Legolas, Frodo Baggins, and hobbit Pippin Took, respectively.
The photo shows the four actors as they sat around a table at a restaurant with empty glasses, each raising a shot glass in celebration.
"3 hobbits and an elf and the CONVERSATION tonight was VAULTED," the caption read.
Before this, Dominic also posted a throwback photo of the cast members last week, showcasing their younger faces while teasing the fans for the group's appearance at Liverpool Comic Con in the United Kingdom this weekend.
"This weekend we form like voltron at #liverpoolcomiccon," he said in the caption.
In the comment section, Orlando describes the image as "Best Photo," as they looked goofy together in what seems to be an airport.
The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy film helmed by Peter Jackson. It was based on the novel of the same name by British author J.R.R. Tolkien, which is one of the best-selling books, with over 150 million copies sold.
The films include The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002), and The Return of the King (2003).
In 2012, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released. It is the first installment in The Hobbit trilogy, acting as a prequel to the LOTR.
Meanwhile, in February 2023, Warner Bros., the Hollywood studio behind the Oscar-winning trilogy, announced new LOTR films based on J.R.R.'s epic fantasy books.
"Today, I'm thrilled to announce that Mike and Pam signed a deal to make multiple Lord of the Rings movies," David Zaslav, CEO of parent group Warner Bros. Discovery said in a statement as per AFP.
"Lord of the Rings is one of the most iconic storytelling franchises of all time, and we're so excited. Stay tuned for more to come on this front," he added.
Details such as which storylines or timelines from the author's sprawling books would provide the source material for the new films have yet to be announced.
