Darren Espanto sets the record straight on his rumored romances with Cassy Legaspi, Kyline Alcantara
Darren Espanto clarified his rumored romance with female celebrities Cassy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara.
In his guest appearance on Fast Talk Boy Abunda, the singer-host opened up about his past and romances in the present.
Darren admitted that he shared a romantic relationship with Kyline in the past, which he described as a “puppy love kind of thing.”
“Hindi ko po masagot ng yes or no kasi it was parang puppy love kind of thing before, when we were younger in the past,” he said.
He also addressed why he and Kyline were being teased by Vice Ganda and his comment on the latter’s Instagram account after she performed on It’s Showtime.
“Kasi nga mako-complete ko na po yung sentence, kasi nga naging kami dati kaya binibiro kami ni Ate Vice,” he revealed, adding that their relationship lasted for a year.
Baring details on their split, Darren clarified that there was no third party involved.
“There were some misunderstandings. And then when we both matured, parang six years later, parang napag-usapan namin. Eventually, we became okay with each other again. Naging friends na ulit,” he continued.
The Iyo singer also opened up on the real score with Cassy, whom he had long been rumored to share a romance with.
Recenlty, Darren said he has no girlfriend, and in a separate interview, he clarified that he and Cassy are best friends, which drew reactions from social media users.
“After that interview, I think there were some IG stories from Tita Carmina and Cass and they (social media users) kind of stitched it together,” he said.
“People kind of misunderstood the whole situation. And so, I messaged Cassy right away,” he continued.
He went on to share that they talked about the issue, saying that he knows that Cassy’s mom, Carmina Villarroel usually posts inspirational quotes every day on her Instagram stories.
"And then si Cass naman, mahilig din siyang mag-repost ng mga naririnig niyang mga kanta or favorite songs that she’s currently listening to on her IG stories as well,” he said.
"So, that’s something I clarified with her. Like, 'If you’re mad at me or if I did anything wrong, please tell me,'” he continued, and then shared that Cassy and her family “doesn’t have any ill feelings” towards him.
“Gan'on naman po kami since we’re so close already. We would never try to beat around the bush,” Darren said. "We always just ask each other directly at this point.”
When asked about their real score, Darren shared that they became close during the pandemic and have been best friends up to now.
"The rest of the details, sa amin na lang po,” he said.
Apart from Kyline and Cassy, Darren is also being linked with Kapuso actress Jillian Ward after she guested on their launch on GMA 7. However, he clarified they are only friends and are planning to collaborate on a project.
He also shared that he had a romantic relationship with actress-singer Jayda Avanzado.
