Nathalie Hart reveals feeling 'ashamed' after split with second husband
Nathalie Hart said she felt embarrassed after her split from her ex-husband, Brad Robert, which came a year after announcing their marriage.
The actress recently opened up about her marriage and motherhood as a single parent, explaining that she took a hiatus for a year due to her love life.
“Nag-asawa kasi ako kaya bigla akong nawawala,” she said during her press conference at Viva Artists Agency, adding, “Unfortunately, hindi kami nag-work out, that’s why I was gone last year.”
Speaking about her failed marriage for the first time, Nathalie admitted that she felt “embarrassed” to open up about their split at first, which also prompted her to lie low from showbiz for a while.
“Nakakahiya kasi. I mean, ‘yun naman ang totoo nun. It's not something that you should be talking about, to share it [with] everybody,” the StarStruck alum said.
Following her separation from her Indian husband, Mayank Sharma in 2019, Nathalie got engaged to Brad in 2022, six months after they started dating. Now that they have broken up, she admitted that she feared other’s opinions on her failed marriage.
"I did linger for it for a while kasi, yung feeling na you're ashamed and everybody is judging you saying nag-fail ka na sa isa, nag-fail ka pa sa pangalawa. Then I realized to myself who cares kasi at the end of the it's your life," she said.
“Siyempre, nanghinayang [ako]. Lahat naman ng relationship, nakakapanghinayang kasi hindi nagtagal. Nakakalungkot din,” she continued.
She added, “I think, what's really sad is you stay in a place na hindi naman kayo parehas na masaya. So sa akin, mas gusto ko na kung mas sasaya ako nang mag-isa ako, mag-isa na lang ako.”
Natalie disclosed that they are currently in the process of formalizing their separation and are now focused on moving forward.
“But now, I think, because the paperwork is starting and everything; he's there tapos nandito ako, I've been here for a couple of months now; so sabi ko, puwede nang pag-usapan,” she continued.
Nathalie, however, also opened up about the difficulties of being a single parent.
“Mahirap lang na you have you decide everything; There’s a good cop and bad cop, and you’re both, so how can you play those two roles?” she said, noting that her husband lives in a different country so she has to be the one doing everything for their daughter, Penelope, whom she shared from her ex-husband, Mayank.
Despite the split, Nathalie said that their daughter understands their situation, especially since the latter has formed a close bond with her dad.
“Even though we broke up and everything, we made sure that the dad and her talks on a weekly basis,” she said, expressing that she’s glad they are both “good parents” in their new setup.
The actress revealed that she has projects lined up following her contract with Viva and will be focusing on her career rather than her love life.
Nathalie, also known as Princess Snell, announced her marriage to Brad in July 2023 in Australia. Prior to this, she was married to Mayank but broke up in 2019.
She previously starred in movies Sin Island, Siphayo, and Kunwari Mahal Kita.
