Angel Locsin, Neil Arce won't have baby just yet due to her thyroid disease

Angel Locsin and husband Neil Arce aren't planning to have a baby just yet, as she has an autoimmune disease that affects her thyroid.

In an appearance on talent manager Ogie Diaz's vlog posted March 30, Locsin said she has Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

According to WebMD, the disease causes the immune system to attack the thyroid, which can lead to hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid doesn't make enough hormones for the body's needs.

Its exact cause is unknown, but factors such as genes, hormones, excessive iodine, and radiation exposure may play a role, WebMD said.

“Wala talaga sa plano namin iyon," Locsin told Diaz when asked about her plans to have a baby with Arce soon, as she disclosed her medical condition.

"But under control naman siya, nag-under medication ako," she said. "Pag okay na siya, saka pwede mag-baby."

Locsin said she and Arce would wait for their doctor's advice first before trying to get pregnant.

"Pero okay kami kasi plano talaga namin, chill kami," she said, noting that they're still enjoying their honeymoon stage.

Amid the pregnancies of her showbiz friends Dimples Romana and Angelica Panganiban, Locsin said she's not feeling any pressure to follow suit.

“I’m so happy for them. Ang tagal nilang hinintay iyon, pinagplanuhan nila iyon talaga," she said.

"Darating din tayo dyan," she continued, noting that she's happy to not be in such a position just yet. With her Christian beliefs, Locsin said she'll just wait for the Lord's timing.

"Kumbaga moment pa nila iyon, huwag muna ako," Locsin said of Romana and Panganiban.

Locsin and Arce tied the knot in an intimate civil wedding ceremony on July 26 last year. They first publicly announced their marriage the following Aug. 7.

The "simple pero rock" affair saw the couple in casual store-bought attire that very same day. They said they didn't prepare their wedding vow or rings, with Arce using his son's ring and Locsin using their engagement ring's duplicate.

The two first confirmed their relationship in 2018 and originally planned to get married in November 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
