Shortly after she became the “most followed female” on Instagram, Selena Gomez has decided to take a break from social media.

Selena, who now has over 382 million followers, has reclaimed the title from Kylie Jenner who falls behind at 380 million Instagram followers.

Speaking to her fans via TikTok, the Rare Beauty founder said she is "very happy" and blessed to "have the best friends, the best fans in the whole world." "I just couldn't be happier," she added.

The Only Murders in the Building star said that she is okay before proceeding to announce that she will be taking a break from social media.

“I love you guys so much,” she said, laughing, “and I’m gonna see you guys sooner [or] later. I’m just gonna take a break from everything.”

In the recent days, the 30-year-old actress made headlines after she was allegedly shaded by Kylie and Hailey Bieber over her eyebrows.

Selena, on TikTok, told fans she "accidentally laminated my brows." A few hours later, Kylie shared an Instagram Story with the caption "this was an accident ?????" placed over her eyebrows.

Fans assumed that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was shading Selena, but Kylie was quick to shoot down the accusations.

She wrote: "This is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts! u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly."

Selena replied to her comment saying she agrees and that "it [was] all unnecessary."

This isn't the first time Selena took a break from social media. In January 2022, Selena returned on Instagram after a four-year break.

She announced her return with selfies, along with the caption: "Wait can you tell I’m back on Instagram?"

Selena told Good Morning America in April 2022 that her self-imposed break "has changed my life completely."

"I am happier, I am more present, I connect more with people," Gomez added. "I understand how powerful the internet is, and in so many ways it’s done the best things for the world. But for me, I get to my news that is actually important I get through people in my life."
