Camille Prats gifts son Nathan purity ring to encourage abstinence
Camille Prats has gifted his son a purity ring to encourage him to stay “pure” before marriage.
On her Instagram post, the actress-host shared snaps with her sons, Nathan and Ice during the Purity Ball they attended on Saturday, April 27.
“Oh my boy you are indeed growing and I can no longer help it! [B]ut by God’s grace, He has given us clear instructions on how we can walk with Him through His Word,” she began in the post.
“Grateful for tonight’s meaningful event! We made a vow together as mom and son to stay pure until he finds the one whom he wants to bring to God to spend the rest of his life with. (Matagal pa yoooon thank God),” she added. In the post, she also included a photo of Nathan’s purity ring with engraved words, “Trust God” and a bible verse Jeremiah 29:11-13 written on the liner of the ring box.
“Nate, [I] pray that God will impress it upon your heart the importance of staying pure in obedience to Him for as we say, obedience brings… blessings. May your heart be blessed and be aligned to God’s will for your life,” she continued. “Love you forever boys.”
Her fans and fellow celebrities expressed their messages of support and admiration for Camille and her sons in the post's comments section.
“Wow mars. [T]hese boys are going to be such a blessing to their future wives,” TV presenter Iya Villania-Arellano wrote.
“Congrats Camille and Nathan! This is intentional parenting!” former beauty queen turned inspirational speaker Miriam Quiambao-Roberto commented.
“Aaaahhhhh Godbless your beautiful family Ate!” Kapuso actress Arny Ross also commented.
What is a purity ring and where can you get one?
In case you’re wondering, purity rings symbolize a vow to abstain from sex—physically, mentally, and emotionally—until marriage.
“A purity ring provides a constant reminder to stay strong in the conviction to resist the temptation in order to keep the body, mind, and heart pure,” international Christian jewelry brand Atrio Hill wrote on its website, adding that it is also referred to as chastity or abstinence rings.
It is made from the same materials as other rings—gold, silver, and white gold, among others. It usually bears engraved inscriptions relating to your pledge, like “Trust God,” “True Love Waits,” “God is Always With You,” bible verses, and more.
It was popularized in the 1990s during the establishment of the American movement The Silver Ring Thing, which encourages youth to sexual abstinence.
You can get yours online at a local jewelry shop Trust God Ring, where rings are priced at P300, available in silver, gold, colored, and black placed inside a bible-like ring box. You can also find more designs on Galleon, where prices range from P1,400 to P2,300.
