At 32 years old, Ed Sheeran already has his own grave ready in his backyard
Ed Sheeran opened up about his real estate in England where he already has his own grave ready for his afterlife.
The English singer-songwriter talked more about his real estate in his interview with GQ Magazine, a year after it was rumored that he was building a crypt in the property.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a crypt,” he said, dispelling rumors, adding that he actually built a chapel to mourn his friends’ death and to also be the venue of his friends’ weddings.
The Give Me Love singer added that he wanted it to be the place where he would be buried, so his children, Lyra and Jupiter could easily visit him.
“It’s a hole that’s dug in the ground with a bit of stone over it, so whenever the day comes and I pass away, I get to go in there,” he said.
While other people think it’s strange and morbid to prepare for their own death, the 32-year-old pop singer chose to plan it ahead to be of help for his loved ones; taking lessons from his experience after seeing his friends pass away without any wills.
“People think it’s really weird and really morbid, but I’ve had friends die without wills, and no one knows what to do,” he said.
In the past two years, Sheeran underwent grieving thrice. His mentor Michael Gudinski passed away in 2021. The following year, he lost two of his closest friends Shane Warne and Jamal Edwards whom he paid tribute to with a song, Eyes Closed.
“This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out and you expect to just bump into them, and everything just reminds you of them and things you did together. You sorta have to take yourself out of reality sometimes to numb the pain of loss, but certain things just bring you right back into it,” he wrote in his Instagram post in March.
“Blue was Jamal’s color, but now is all I feel. And I guess music helps heal, so I’m dancing with my eyes closed to try get through,” he concluded.
Sheeran is known for his songs Thinking Out Loud, Perfect, and Photograph, among others. He recently released his albums, - (Subtract) and Autumn Variations.
