NewJeans' comeback scheduled for Summer 2023—ADOR
NewJeans' record label ADOR has confirmed that the K-pop girl group's upcoming album is scheduled for release this summer.
“It was actually yesterday that they finished recording for the new album that is scheduled to be released this summer,” ADOR chief executive officer Min Hee-jin told Billboard in a recent interview.
Although the "summer" comeback is common in K-pop, NewJeans will continue its trend of exploring fresh perspectives on traditional concepts. This is according to the ADOR executive, also a former SM Entertainment creative director who handled the branding of popular groups like Girls' Generation, EXO, and Red Velvet.
“I wanted to break the stereotype that only certain styles of music would be able to succeed in the so-called mainstream industry," Min said.
Aside from the unnamed album set for a summer 2023 release, NewJeans' future music will likewise reflect the same intention.
"In the albums going forward, NewJeans will continue to strive to present something new and unique to exceed the expectations of their fans. NewJeans members keep growing and growing, and we can’t wait to surprise the world again," Min concluded.
The fast-rising K-pop girl group debuted in July 2022 with members Hanni, Minji, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
The girls' debut track, Attention, started the group on its path to success, setting the bar higher each time with hits like Hype Boy, Ditto, and OMG.
Aside from setting local and international music records for K-pop, NewJeans has become the ambassador of brands like McDonald's and Levi's, as well as the South Korean capital of Seoul.
