Singer JK Labajo and beauty queen Maureen Wroblewitz announced that they've broken up, with Labajo maintaining that they're still best friends.

"Magka-ibigan na ngayo’y matalik na magkaibigan," the 21-year-old singer wrote in a Facebook post June 10, along with a photo of them. "Lagi mong tandaan na kahit pagbaliktarin mo man ang mundo, kahit saang lupalop man ng kalawakan, ikaw parin ang nagiisa kong buwan."

Wroblewitz starred in the music video of his 2018 hit love song Buwan.

"Maraming salamat, mahal kita, at hanggang sa muli," Labajo added.

In the comments section, he wrote: "Ikaw ay malaya nang lumipad, aking paruparo."

He also responded to a fan noting how "saddening" the breakup has been despite it being done "in goodest terms."

"Most mature breakup I’ve had. I want nothing but the best for each other," Labajo said, with a red heart emoji.

The 24-year-old Wroblewitz, a runner-up at Miss Universe 2021 and the winner of Asia's Next Top Model Season 5, also commented three white hearts on her ex-boyfriend's Facebook post, and a red heart on Instagram.

On her own social media pages, Wroblewitz posted a photo of three butterflies with the text, "life is not happening to you/life is happening for you."

"some things come to an end and that’s okay. but now it’s time for us to grow on our own," she wrote, followed by a white heart emoji.

In her Facebook post, Labajo left a red heart emoji in the comments.

On Instagram, meanwhile, he also penned a note of appreciation for her.

"I am the luckiest person in the world to have spent the past years of my life with you and I wouldn’t choose anybody else to have spend those years with," he said.

"You’ve taught me so much and I have learned, I am learning, and I will learn more. We are both so young and we have to enjoy ourselves. I want to see you succeed. I love seeing you achieve your dreams. You will. We will. Here’s to growth and love for ourselves. For there is no greater love than self-love."

"Dankëschon, Ich liebe dich and auf wiedersehen," Labajo concluded in German, which translates to "Thank you, I love you, and goodbye."

Labajo and Wroblewitz are both half-Germans.

Rumors about the couple's blossoming romance started in 2017, when they've been spotted together on several occasions. Labajo in a guesting in Boy Abunda's talk show, however, clarified that Wroblewitz was just his "friend" at the time.

Wroblewitz's appearance in Labajo's Buwan music video fueled rumors of their being an item further, but they still refused to address the issue.

They went public with their relationship in 2019.
