Alden Richards reveals he almost dated Julie Anne San Jose

Alden Richards revealed that he and Julie Anne San Jose almost became a "thing."

In a Jan. 25 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, host Boy Abunda asked Richards if he almost dated someone. The Kapuso actor then answered that he did, in fact they were two—Winwyn Marquez and Julie Anne San Jose. 

Unlike his almost relationship with Winwyn that did not work out due to their busy schedules, he admitted that with Julie Anne, it was because of him.

“It was my fault po, Tito Boy. I decided mag-focus po talaga sa work. Hinihingi ko po ng sorry ‘yon sa kanya. It was a long time of parang naiwan ko po siya,” he said.

He then revealed that they stopped talking for about seven years until he decided to settle things with the Kapuso actress one day in the green room when they were left alone. 

He shared, detailing the encounter, “‘I’m really sorry for what happened. Iniwan kita. There’s no one to blame but me and sana napatawad mo na ako.’ Okay po siya kausap that time.” 

After the encounter, the Start-Up PH star shared that they have become good friends. 

The revelation went abuzz with "Rayver," "Tito Boy," "Maine," and "#ALDENRichards" landing spots on Twitter’s trending list.

Many were shocked by the revelation, while others felt sorry for the young actor writing, "Darating din ang right one for you Alden... sa tamang panahon!"

"I am still shocked of what happened to Julie San Jose and Alden!! Grabe noo? Look Julie now. She's happy and in love kay R," one Twitter user said.

Some netizens praised Julie Anne's behavior despite what she has been through when she was bashed amid the popularity of AlDub, Alden and Maine Mendoza's loveteam.

"Julie Ann San Jose is gold. Imbes na magalit and sirain yung career ni Alden saka Maine that time, she has chosen not to kahit inaway away xa ng Aldub nation. She has chosen kindness, grace and humility," one tweet said.

In 2018, Alden and Julie Anne were linked after a photo of the actor hugging the actress circulated online. There were also rumors that they were supposed to be partnered in a project. Julie Anne received bashing from the AlDub fans after this.

But in 2021, Julie Anne broke her silence saying he and the Pambansang Bae are good and that it's all in the past.

"Ibaon na natin sa limot yon kasi 2021 na. That’s not what we need right now. All we need right now is to have each other especially ngayong pandemic na ‘to,” she said.
