Herlene Budol to take part in a ‘different’ international tourism pageant
Herlene Budol will vie for a crown in a “different” international tourism pageant, the ALV Pageant Circle confirmed.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 19, the pageant organizer noted that they have not issued an official confirmation in line with Budol’s participation in the Miss Tourism World pageant, which is set to take place in London later this year.
They clarified that they have “ceased from using the Miss Tourism World Philippines title” since PH bet Justine Felizarta was crowned first runner-up in Miss Tourism World 2022.
“Our Miss Philippines Tourism title is a generic title with no contractual obligation to any international pageant,” they noted, adding that their choice of global pageant “may vary year after year, depending on the ideals and visions of the organization.”
The ALV Pageant Circle stressed it has never been their intention to “instigate any conflict of interest” with their fellow pageant organizers that they “regard with mutual respect.”
“We are excited to announce that Miss Philippines Tourism 2023 will be competing in a different international tourism pageant, which we will announce very soon,” they concluded.
In a notice posted on Facebook on Tuesday, July 18, the Hiyas ng Pilipinas organization revealed it has issued a cease and desist order on all rights to their franchises, including Miss Tourism World Philippines. It asserted that all contracts, agreements, covenants, and memorandums made prior to Feb. 18 this year are considered null and void. This also affects other tilts such as Miss Omninational Philippines and Miss Summit International Philippines.
Budol was crowned Miss Tourism Philippines at the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 on July 13. She also won Best in Runway and other special awards like Miss Bluewater Day Spa, Miss Ever Bilena, Miss Arena Plus, and Miss Mermaid Manila Hair.
