Margot Robbie to reportedly earn a whopping $50-M (P2.8-B) from 'Barbie'
Oh, what can't Barbie do? Margot Robbie, who has been the talk of the town for portraying Barbie in this season's biggest hit film, is reportedly getting an eight-digit paycheck for bringing the phenomenal doll to the big screen.
Multiple sources told Variety that the Hollywood actress is earning a whopping $50 million (P2.8 billion) in salary and box office bonuses for headlining and producing Barbie.
Robbie is not the only one winning big from the film, Variety's sources said. With Barbie's massive success worldwide, it is likely that its director and co-writer Greta Gerwig is receiving bonuses as well.
Only two weeks after Barbie's premiere on July 21, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that the film had already surpassed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, making Gerwig the first woman to surpass the benchmark as a solo director. Gerwig overtook Jennifer Lee who co-directed Frozen II, as per Hollywood Reporter.
Barbie has also become Warner Bros.' second highest-grossing film to date, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Apart from stepping into Barbie's heels and bringing the world's most famous doll to life, Robbie produced the film with her studio LuckyChap Entertainment which she co-owns with her husband Tom Ackerley and friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr. The company was also behind other hit films like Birds of Prey and Oscar-winning Promising Young Woman.
