Ryza Cenon upset about new home's construction issues

What was meant to be a joyous milestone—moving into a new home—turned into a heart-wrenching ordeal for Ryza Cenon. Instead of finding solace and comfort in her new abode, she was met with an array of problems, from unsightly cracks to other structural defects.

Ryza recently uploaded a tour of her new home on her YouTube channel. She brought her viewers around her modern industrial design-inspired house, with her son Night keeping her company, but also talked about the distress the whole renovation brought her.

“Maraming nangyari. Mahigit two years sigurong ginagawa ‘yung bahay. Nagkaroon din ng problem and stressed ako. Buti na lang talaga nagpakalbo ako kung hindi lagas lagas na ‘yung buhok ko,” she said.

Ryza talked about how they were in and out of the house throughout the construction process.

“Na-experience din namin tumira sa hotel [for] one month. Pabalik-balik kami ng hotel, palipat-lipat kami ng hotel,” she said.

While they’ve moved in since February, the repairs have been ongoing due to cracks in the walls, stairs, and the main door. They have also switched contractors, she said.

“Hanggang ngayon may kailangan pa rin ayusin, di pa naaayos. Pero in fairness naman sa contractor, hindi naman sila yung parang hindi na kami pinapansin,” she continued.

Reflections on her “new” home

Expressing her perfectionist tendencies, Ryza was very particular about detail. After all, as she mentioned, this was her first house which she greatly invested in. She expressed some disappointment in how it turned out.

“Kung titingnan niyo yung house, kunwari yung sa malayo, maganda naman talaga siya, yung design, yung kulay, everything maganda naman po. Pero once na tiningnan niyo closely, yung detail ng house, yung finishing ng house, medyo hindi po ganun ka-pulido.”

Due to the problems with the finishings, Ryza expressed her dismay, “Parang mukha siyang nirenovate na house, hindi siya new house.”

The actress shared her experiences, both the good and bad, to highlight the lessons she learned.

“Sana nakatulong kami sa naging experience namin para kapag kayo naman po yung nagpagawa, at least alam niyo na po yung first step. Maging maanuri o sa pagkuha ng contractor.”

Ryza is set to star as Helena in an upcoming movie titled Lilim, which is Mikhail Red's newest horror film. Written by Nikolas Red, the upcoming offering also stars Heaven Peralejo, Eula Valdez, Nicole Omillo, Phoebe Walker, Mon Confiado, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Gold Aceron, and Skywalker David.
