iKON's Bobby, Chanwoo to enter military in May
Bobby and Chanwoo, members of the South Korean boy band iKON, are set to enter the military in May.
In a report by Korean entertainment media outlet Soompi, the group's agency 143 Entertainment revealed that Bobby would enlist on May 21, followed by Chanwoo on May 27.
"We ask that you send Bobby and Jung Chanwoo lots of support and encouragement until the day they return after diligently carrying out their military duty," the agency said in a statement.
It added that they will not be holding an official event for the fans or press on the days that the members enlist.
"We ask for your understanding regarding the fact that they will be entering privately in order to prevent safety-related accidents due to on-site confusion. Thank you."
Bobby and Chanwoo are the second and third iKON members to have military enlistment, following Kim Jinhwan in July 2023.
iKON debuted in 2015 under YG Entertainment. It initially consists of seven members: Jay, Song Yunhyeong, Bobby, DK, Ju-ne, Chan, and B.I.
In 2019, the group's leader, B.I departed from the group due to drug allegations.
iKON left YG Entertainment in December 2022 and signed with 143 Entertainment last year.
