Carla's dad Rey Abellana retracts ‘one-night stand’ allegation against Tom Rodriguez
Rey “PJ” Abellana took back his earlier statement that Tom Rodriguez had a one-night stand, which raised some problems on the latter’s marital status with the veteran actor’s daughter Carla.
In an interview on GMA-7’s 24 Oras, Rey clarified that while the celebrity couple’s problem did involve a one-night stand issue, it did not happen at all. “At first, may nakarating po at nalaman ni Carla na may issue na one-night stand na involved si Tom. Si Tom naman was already able to explain kay Carla na wala naman din pong katotohanan ito at naiwasan naman din niya na mangyari iyon. Wala pong natuloy na one-night stand, according to Tom’s side naman,” he said.
“So, yun po yung scenario ng issue na one-night stand. Napashortcut lang po, napaabrupt lang po yung pagkasabi ko kay Nanay Cristy na, you know, ay napag-isipan ng masama,” he added.
In a previous interview with showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin, Rey weighed in on Tom’s infidelity rumors and said that what happened could not be considered a third party. “Honestly speaking, hindi po natin mako-consider na third party ang sitwasyon, kasi po ang pangyayari eh one-night stand eh. So hindi po natin ‘yun kinoconsider na third party.”
Rey later added that he doesn’t think of it as a mortal sin. “Medyo normal sa buhay ng mga lalaki. Kaya naiintindihan ko po yan.”
Days later, Rey acknowledged that he was not able to set things straight in his previous interview, which caused an upset for Carla. “She was mad. She was questioning me why it came up that way. Of course, I explained it to her right away and after explaining my side, hindi naman na din naman siya nag-message ulit.”
After highlighting the importance of communication in a relationship, Rey expressed his hope that everything will be well between Carla and Tom again. “I-work out na nila ‘yan. So much the better na ma-normalize na uli sila at maipatuloy na nila yung buhay mag-asawa nila.”
“When he (Tom) came over to talk to me and explain his side, he would cry along with his explanations and everything and he keeps on saying na he wants his wife back. He wants Carla back. He loves Carla very much that’s why they settled down,” continued Rey.
Breakup speculations between Tom and Carla started in January as the actor unfollowed his wife on Instagram and then followed her again the next day. They got married in October 2021, after being together since 2014.
