Dina Bonnevie confirms referring to Alex Gonzaga in 'unprofessional' co-worker viral clip
Dina Bonnevie has finally revealed the celebrity she was referring to in the viral clip where she talked about her encounter with an "unprofessional" co-worker.
In a Jan. 31 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the veteran actress further detailed her experience with the unprofessional co-worker and later admitted that it was actress and vlogger Alex Gonzaga.
“Yes, it was Alex Gonzaga. But let me explain that it happened 12 years ago,” she said, adding, “We were doing a teleserye then, and it did not come naman without reason.”
The said teleserye was P.S I Love You aired on TV5 in 2011.
"Kaya lang kasi, it didn't only happen once. It happened once, twice, thrice, so hindi lang naman ako," she recounted.
"There were other co-workers who were getting irked about [her] working habits and the way she was working with us," she continued, noting that she decided to confront the actress about her tardiness.
“'Kung gusto mo magtagal sa industriya, hindi ganyan ‘yung ugali, Alex',” Dina recalled telling Alex.
Dina shared with Boy Abunda that she served as her co-stars' “spokesperson” in confronting Alex. “Nobody had strength or the audacity to talk to her. So, okay, ako ang magiging spokesperson," she said.
Despite talking to Alex, Dina shared that the actress-vlogger continued being late in the next taping days.
She recounted, “That morning, late na naman siya. Nagpipigil na naman kami noon. Parang 'Haaa!' umuusok na lahat sila. 'I'm gonna walk out of the set if you don't tell her off,' 'You better tell her off. Di, hindi ko na kaya,'" other co-stars in the serye told Dina.
Dina shared that Alex went out during their lunch time, and then came back looking freshly bathed with no makeup on, “So, we had to wait na naman for another three hours bago makapag take; E siyempre, kumukulo na ang dugo ng lahat,” she said.
The veteran actress then recalled one of their taping days when Alex couldn’t cry for a certain scene
"Alex, you know why you cannot cry, [it's] because you're not in touch with your emotions. You're very indifferent to your co-workers." the veteran actress recalled telling Alex.
You know what Alex I want to talk to you kasi, you know, we don't like what you're doing that you're always late," she added.
Alex simply replied, "Eh marami akong ganap eh.”
Dina responded, “Wait a minute, wait a minute. I'm trying to talk to you nicely," to which Alex defends that they [her co-actors] don’t know her side.
"Sabi ko, 'Hindi pa pinapanganak ang babastos sa akin Alex. Please, kinakausap kita nang maayos,” said Dina, advising Alex, “If you want to stay long in this business you cannot last kung ganiyan ang attitude mo, na palagi kang late, dito ka pa maliligo sa set, and you cannot even memorize your lines, hindi ka makaiyak.”
The veteran actress also shared that Alex got mad at actress-singer Nadine Lustre, who was one of the casts for that serye, “Nagagalit siya kay Nadine kung nauunang umiyak si Nadine, e eksena niya raw ‘yun.”
Dina then shared that she and Alex made up the same day she confronted her.
To recap, the incident was brought to the public when Dina talked about an “unprofessional” co-worker during a press conference in 2018.
Dina then went on to emphasize the importance of treating other people equally. “I’ll say it in one line: be professional. Being professional means coming to set on time, reading your script, knowing your role, memorizing your lines, and then just enjoy your work,” she said.
She continued, “I think the most important lesson that I learned is to always be conscious of other people. Be in touch. Don’t be indifferent to other people. Feel them, think of yourself in their shoes.”
“If you’re like that, if you’re compassionate to other people, you’ll do things right, wonderfully, and maybe even more than that,” she concluded.
