BIGBANG makes long-awaited return to the music scene with ‘Still Life’ after four years
BIGBANG’s much-anticipated return proves why they’re one of the most legendary K-pop icons to date.
K-pop juggernaut BIGBANG has finally returned to the music scene with the sentimental Still Life—their first song after four years. The track and music video were released on Monday night, April 4.
“After the rain, instead of sadness comes a happy end / A seven-colored rainbow slanted like a sneer / Passed the seasons without maturing, I can’t mature (still) / Immature and long gone without maturing / Marchin’ Vivaldi Tchaikovsky, greeting the seasons of today / Finally, the four at last,” G-Dragon sang in the song’s verse.
The sentimental music video showed BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung in different locations representing spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Sadly, the group’s members didn’t appear together throughout the video.
Based on the lyrics, the soft rock-inspired Still Life is a track that talks about past hardships, the members’ hopes for the future, and a “happy ending after the rain.”
Still Life is BIGBANG’s first song after four years and notably, their first release as a quartet. Since its release, it rose to the top of iTunes Top Songs charts in 33 countries.
The four-member boyband announced their long-awaited comeback in February 2022. The group’s entertainment agency YG Entertainment also confirmed the departure of T.O.P from the company after 16 years.
BIGBANG has debuted as a five-member unit in 2006, composed of members G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, Daesung, and Seungri. Some of their most popular songs include Bae Bae, Bang Bang Bang, Fantastic Baby, Loser, Haru Haru, and If You,
Former member Seungri has left the group and retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 amid the Burning Sun scandal.
