Michelle Dee remains hopeful after her Miss Universe journey: 'Everything always happens for a reason'
Despite having regrets about not being able to showcase herself in the Q&A round, Michelle Dee remains positive, believing that “everything ALWAYS happens for a reason.”
The 28-year-old beauty queen shared her thoughts about her journey in the most prestigious pageant, especially when she concluded her stint in the top 10.
“Binigay ko talaga lahat, everything that I could afford to give I left it on that stage, and ultimately, I just left it to destiny,” she shared in an interview with Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News.
“Of course, it’s not the result that we wanted, but I know as long as all of you are proud, as long as all of you saw the hard work and dedication that was made behind not just for myself but the whole team behind me as well, that’s enough for me,” she continued.
She added: "But ultimately, it was Nicaragua’s destiny. She’s an amazing woman."
Michelle also regretted not being able to make it to the final 5, especially since she prepared herself for the Q&A round for the “whole year.”
“Sayang hindi ako nakahawak ng mic, but if anything just know that I was training the whole year to make sure that if ever I had that moment, walang butas,” she shared. “But again, it’s all about destiny.”
Michelle also took to Instagram on Sunday, Nov. 19 to further express gratitude to her supporters.
“We did what we could, but destiny has greater things for us! Everything ALWAYS happens for a reason!” she began.
“I’m still trying to compose my thoughts & feelings with everything going on, but all I know is I’m truly indebted to all of you!” she continued, highlighting how the Filipinos showcased “Bayanihan” at this year’s competition.
“We showed the whole universe what our #BAYANIHAN spirit can do and let’s keep shaking them,” she wrote. “Mahal na mahal ko kayo.”
Apart from making it to the top 10, Michelle also bagged special awards including a gold award for the Voice for Change category for her autism awareness advocacy; the Spirit of Carnival which embodies inclusivity, diversity, and friendship; as well as winning the fan vote.
She shared that she is set to fly to Mexico along with all the delegates on Monday, Nov. 20 (PHT), and will go back to the Philippines on the 26th.
