BLACKPINK to reportedly leave YG Entertainment; agency gears for new girl group

After the departure of Big Bang's Taeyang and Daesung, as well as the boy group iKON, YG Entertainment’s biggest girl group BLACKPINK is reportedly leaving the parent label and will move to YG affiliate The Black Label. 

According to a report by The Korea Herald, an industry insider said that discussions over the contract between the group and management were completed early this year. Following the expiration of their contract next year, the group will move under The Black Label owned by Teddy, a former in-house producer of YG who has worked with several YG artists such as BLACKPINK, Big Bang, Seven, 2NE1, among others.  

YG Entertainment still cannot confirm anything as, according to one of its representatives, BLACKPINK's contracts "have not ended yet."

"It’s hard to confirm whether they will sign with The Black Label or not after their contracts end.” the representative added.

On Dec. 26, former labelmate Taeyang officially signed with producer Teddy's The Black Label agency after they have working together for a long time.

On the other hand, shortly after the announcement of the departure of iKON, YG Entertainment released a teaser of a new girl group called YG Next Movement. This is set to be revealed on Jan. 1, 2023.
