Gigi De Lana collapses onstage during performance in Ilocos Norte
Gigi De Lana and her bandmates decided to push through with their Ilocos Norte concert after sustaining minor injuries from a car accident, but they weren't able to finish their show after the lead singer collapsed onstage.
The band's vocalist released an official statement on the incident on her Facebook page on Sunday, May 14, sharing that they got into a car accident en route to the Himala sa Buhangin event in Ilocos Norte at around 10:20 a.m. "The band members, Jon, Oyus, Mela, Gigi, and four other crew members, sustained minor injuries,” it read.
After obtaining a medical clearance from the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center Hospital, they agreed to hold their show that night.
As seen in social media personality Tita Krissy Achino's Twitter thread, the band was able to perform four songs—including Himala, Noypi, and two Kitchie Nadal songs—but had to stop the show when Gigi collapsed onstage. The uploader also noted that Gigi was seen wearing a shoulder brace and exhibiting signs of weakness during their second song. The first-aid responders at the event rushed to her for help while the band continued to play.
“The staff & organizers attend to De Lana after she loses consciousness on stage. She manages to apologize to the crowd but is not able to finish her statement," Krissy Achino wrote in a tweet. The band decided to cancel their set later on.

On Monday morning, May 15, The Gigi Vibes shared a joint statement via Gigi’s official page, asking for prayers for their continued recovery from the car accident.
“Hindi man namin natapos ang tugtugan, naramdaman namin ang inyong mainit na pagtanggap sa aming banda. Mga taga-Ilocos Norte, mahal namin kayong lahat,” they wrote. “Please join us in praying for Gigi, Jon, Oyus, and our team members’ quick recovery after yesterday’s incident.”
In a separate statement, Gigi announced that they would need to cancel their upcoming show in Nueva Ecija, but promised their fans that they would come back stronger. "Babawi po kami, and we promise to deliver a show that's worth the wait," she said.
Gigi is best known for her stint on Tawag ng Tanghalan in 2016. She's been actively performing with her band, The Gigi Vibes, in various events.
