'It's never too late': Ruffa Gutierrez is graduating from college this July
Beauty queen, actress, model, host—Ruffa Gutierrez has another title to add to her belt: college graduate.
The 47-year-old excitedly announced that she'll be finishing her bachelor's degree during the March 3 episode of It's Showtime.
Gutierrez shared the news after she was asked why she was absent from the show a day before.
"Nako, nag-aaral ako. I had academic deadlines!" she said. "Practicum ko na so tomorrow yung last day ko. I'm graduating college in July."
The actress resumed her studies in 2021, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in communication arts at the Philippine Women's University.
"It's never too late," Gutierrez continued. "At least hindi na lang ako high school graduate kasi for the longest time, high school graduate [ako]." Pero excuse me, 13 years old naman nagtatrabaho na ako, diba."
The actress chose to return to school, after 34 years in the entertainment business, to set an example for her two children.
Growing up in a family of celebrities, Gutierrez first appeared in film and TV in 1987 and was part of German Moreno's That's Entertainment variety show. In the 90s, she embarked on the beauty pageant world, winning the Binibining Pilipinas World crown in 1993. She then continued her acting and hosting gigs, appearing in Eat Bulaga, The Buzz, and It's Showtime.
