Dolly de Leon becomes the first Filipino actor to get nominated in BAFTA
Actress Dolly de Leon received another recognition for her role in Triangle of Sadness.
Following her historic nomination at the Golden Globe Awards, de Leon got nominated as best supporting actress at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). She is also the first Filipino actor to ever get a BAFTA nomination.
Aside from de Leon, other nominees for best supporting actress include Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever); Hong Chau (The Whale); Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All At Once), and Carey Mulligan (She Said).
Ru-ben Östlund's satrical black comedy film Triangle of Sadness is also nominated for Best Original Screenplay and Best Casting.
In Triangle of Sadness, de Leon plays the role of Abigail, a staff member of a luxury yacht who ends up leading the survivors stranded on an island after the ship sinks.
Her portrayal has earned her 15 more international nominations, including the 48th Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards and The Satellite Awards 2022.
The awarding ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 19 (Monday, February 20, Manila time).
