Rebel Wilson discloses significant salary changes from 'Bridesmaids' to 'Pitch Perfect'
Do you know how much Australian actress Rebel Wilson made in her breakout role in Bridesmaids and how it significantly increased a year later thanks to Pitch Perfect?
E! News reported that Wilson, in her new memoir Rebel Rising, wrote that she earned $3,500 (P198,000) in the 2011 wedding comedy movie that starred Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Maya Rudolph.
She said the pay "didn't matter to me,” as it was the "first opportunity in Hollywood that changed the trajectory of my whole career."
The Bridesmaids served as Wilson’s ticket to Hollywood, booking six gigs within two weeks of the movie’s box office success.
One of the gigs was the hit musical comedy franchise Pitch Perfect, which also starred Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Anna Camp. She earned $65,000 (P3.7 million) for the first installment.
The 2015 sequel featured newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, earning the biggest opening for a musical movie. Wilson then negotiated $10 million (P565.6 million) for the third installment in 2017.
Published on April 2, Rebel Rising chronicles Wilson's "most personal and important moments in her life—from fertility issues, weight gain and loss, sexuality, overcoming shyness, rejections," among others.
Wilson also starred in movies like Bachelorette, Pain & Gain, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Jojo Rabbit, and Senior Year.
She also lent her voice in the animated movies Ice Age: Continental Drift and Kung Fu Panda 3.
