Robin Padilla apologizes over issue on Mariel Padilla's drip session: 'Makakaasa po kayo na hindi na mauulit ang ganitong uri ng pangyayari'
Following the online backlash from some social media users and a legislator, Senator Robin Padilla, the husband of Mariel Padilla, issued a written apology to two offices of the Senate over his wife's Vitamin C drip session issue.
The senator wrote to Senate's Medical and Dental Bureau chief Dr. Renato DG Sison and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms retired Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan on Monday, Feb. 26, saying that his wife did not intend to breach any Senate protocols.
"Kailanman po ay hindi ko naisip na ipagwalang-bahala ang mga umiiral na alituntunin ukol sa seguridad ng Senado, lalo't higit ang hindi pagbibigay-galang sa ating institusyon," Padilla said in a letter to Ancan retrieved by GMA Integrated News.

"Nais ko pong bigyan ng diin na wala pong intensyon ang aking maybahay na ipagwalang-bahala ang mga umiiral na patakaran ng Medical Bureau," he also wrote in the letter to Sison.
While he is asking for apology, Padilla, who ranked first in the 2022 Philippine Senate election, also said in both letters that this incident will never happen again. "Makakaasa po kayo na hindi na mauulit ang ganitong uri ng pangyayari."
Mariel asks forgiveness
Mariel was in hot water last week after she conducted an intravenous (IV) drip session at the office of her husband.
In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, the television host and actress posted a picture of herself in the middle of the treatment. She was at the Senate with her husband to support the "Eddie Garcia" bill, which was recently approved by the upper house on the third and final reading.
In a separate Instagram reel that had also been deleted, she further expounded on why she conducted the treatment in Robin's office.
"Drip anywhere, kasi kailangan consistent tayo sa vitamins na nilalagay natin sa ating katawan and si Drip in Luxe really helped me with so many things, so hindi na ako sakitin, and I just feel so much better," she said.
"Try niyo rin yung style ko na drip anywhere," she encouraged.
However, several social media users pointed out how it was inappropriate to conduct the medical treatment in a prestigious building. Sen. Nancy Binay even said she's not comfortable with what Mariel said as she reiterated that the procedure is "not good for the health."
"It’s not good [for the] health kasi wala siyang FDA approval. Sa akin din, ang pagwa-whitening, hindi rin ‘yan batayan ng good looks, 'di ba?" she said.
Mariel later issued a public apology on her Facebook page to clarify the issue.
"I was at the Senate to support my husband's bill. Despite my busy schedule as a wife, mother, and online seller, I wanted to be there with him since his work is very important to him," she began alongside a clarification that she received a Vitamin C Drip, not Glutathione. She added that she did it to inspire others that they can "still prioritize their health by taking vitamins amidst various activities or wherever they are."
"It was never my intention to malign nor undermine the integrity and dignity of the Senate," she wrote.
Mariel concluded, "I want to extend my sincerest apologies to all concerned, including the members and staff of the Senate and the public. We uphold the Senate's dignity and integrity."
