For her part, the Bulakenya beauty queen expressed her joy over the supportive comments she received from Banks on social media.

“OMG!!!!!!!” she wrote in an Instagram story as she reshared her Miss Universe 2024 portrait and a screenshot of Banks’ comment.

The Miss Universe Philippines organization also reacted to Banks' move, saying that the Pinay beauty queen is just “universally loved.”

“When the legend herself, Tyra Banks, notices our very own Miss Universe Philippines, Chelsea Manalo. You deserve all this,” they wrote in the caption.

In one of her In My Shoes episodes shared by Empire Philippines, Manalo shared that Banks inspires her to embrace her skin and beauty.

“Actually isa sa mga tao na nag-inspire sa akin at a very young age, it was Ms. Tyra Banks,” she said, recalling how she was “mesmerized” by the latter after seeing her on America’s Top Model

“I saw myself in her kasi nakikinig na ako the way she speaks. She motivates and influences people at a young age, like me. Ang laki ng impact eh,” she said.

Manalo was crowned Miss Universe Philippines in May, making history as the first Filipina of African descent to win the crown.

The Miss Universe coronation night will be held on Nov. 17 (PH time) in Arena CDMX, Mexico. Manalo is vying for the Philippines’ fifth crown after Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
