TRENDING: Karen Davila goes viral over 'TV Patrol' blooper video

Published Oct 29, 2024 10:20 pm

Another Karen Davila meme is born.

The veteran broadcast journalist made rounds on social media after she was seen walking behind her TV Patrol co-anchor, Noli de Castro, who was reading the top story on Monday evening.

In the viral video, which as of writing, has more than 700,000 views, Karen is seen walking through the studio when she unexpectedly notices herself on a monitor. Startled, she quickly turns around and exits the frame.

Noli did not notice her and continued presenting the news item.

By the time the program was over, the four main hosts of TV Patrol were laughing about Karen's funny moment.

"Unang-una, guys, sorry po ah. Sorry kanina at naging white lady ako sa likod ni Kabayan [Noli]," Karen said. "Hindi po sinasadya ‘yun. Nangyayari po ang mga bloopers [at] hindi ako nag-iisa."

But what was Karen supposed to do there? Where was she supposed to go?

On X, the veteran journalist reposted her viral video with the caption, "Good Morning. May ‘white lady’ na naglakad. Sorry guys! Have a good one today!"

The following day, Oct. 29, TV Patrol aired a news item regarding the viral video, in which Davila clarified where she was heading in the viral video.

"Isang malaking aksidente po 'yun," she said, "Ang nangyayari po kasi kapag binasa na ni Kabayan ang unang item tapos may pinapasok na pong video, usually po, naglalakad na ako at kami po papunta, pabalik sa make-up room."

Karen continued, "Eh hindi ko po nakita, wala pa palang video sa likod niya [Noli]."

Social media users react

Viral TV bloopers often spark humorous reactions on social media, ranging from laughter to creative memes and witty commentary.

"This is her lowkey reminding us "Magbibirthday na ulit ako," a user wrote, referencing another viral clip featuring Karen and Lyca Gairanod, who were shocked to discover they share the same birthdates.

"Happy Birthday Ms. @iamkarendavila, ang dami kong tawa," another user wrote.

Many viewers said they could relate to Karen's awkward moment, sharing their own embarrassing experiences.

One user said: "Yung nakasalubong mo teacher mo na may bitbit kang turon, kahit na ang paalam mo ay magsi-cr ka lang."

"Hahahaha yung nakita mo 'yung ex mo kasama 'yung bago niya," another one joked.

"Yung nakita mo si crush tapos wala kang ligo be like."

Some viewers created a humorous mashup video, combining the clip with one of Willie Revillame's classic videos where he reprimands a Wil to Win staff member for walking in front of the camera during a live broadcast.

This is not the first time that Davila has been the subject of memes. In August 2021, the 53-year-old My Puhunan host also made rounds online following a video feature on Lyca where she was shocked to learn that she and the former share the same birthday on November 21.

"Liar! Birthday ko 'yun," said Karen as Lyca looked confused over the former's reaction.

Davila is one of the seasoned journalists in the country who has been the anchor for multiple programs, including Bandila, My Puhunan: Kaya Mo!, and TV Patrol.

As a veteran broadcast journalist, she received various accolades, including an award from the New York Festival, one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men Awards for Broadcast Journalism in 2008, a recipient of the UNICEF Child Rights Award and Best National News Anchor title from the Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2021. The Senate also recognized her as one of the Outstanding Women in the Nation's Service (TOWNS).

In 2023, she was appointed the first UN Women National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines.
