'Tusok-tusok with Dior bag': Funny reactions to Heart Evangelista eating fish balls in Sorsogon
We've all been there—turning to fish balls, kwek-kwek, kikiam, and siomai especially when it's petsa de peligro. But in case you haven't heard, these Pinoy street food are synonymous with "high-end" too—when they're in the hands of international fashion icon Heart Evangelista, that is.
On Sunday, July 30, Heart impressed and, at the same time, got the creative juices of her fans flowing after she shared photos of herself eating fish balls in Sorsogon. She is seen holding two small cups of the famed street food as she glows in her dainty bralette lace top and pink printed skirt ensemble from Dior.
She was joined by her husband, Senator Chiz Escudero, and sister Cam Ongpauco in her "tusok-tusok" moment.
"Rompeolas, Sorsogan," Heart captioned her post, referring to the tourist spot where her photos were taken.
"Tusok tusok the fish balls," the socialite added.
Heart's followers quickly took to the comments section of her post to express their awe in her "simple" and "down-to-earth" habit of eating street food.
One Instagram user commented, "This is what you call duality at it’s finest. She can be the queen of fashion weeks but whenever she’s back home, she never forgets the basic things in life that makes her happy. Appreciating simplicity even if she has seen immense grandeur. Rich yet humble to the core."
Another user noted how "impactful and helpful" her post would be to local street vendors. "Keep posting them my dear. LOVE!" they added.
Of course, there are those who were creative and witty enough to most fun that they could get from the post.
Some pointed out how the fish ball, which would usually cost just P2 a piece, has transformed into a fine dish, with Heart enjoying it.
"Parang naging 350 per piece ung fishball nung hinawakan ni Heart," one user said while another one chided, "Yung looks ng fishball ay 1k each sa post na to lol @iamhearte 😂❤️"
There are also those who pointed out how the fashionista's outfit looks as if she's attending a fashion week, with her Dior bag and Patek Philippe watch, when she's only out to eat one of the country's cheap(est) eats.
"I like how you make tusok tusok the fishballs with your Dior bag 😍❤️ lerveeee!" one user wrote.
Another one quipped, "Sana all naka Dior while tusok tusok the fishballs. 😂"
"Tusok tusok and that Patek tho, 😮💨" one of Heart's followers commented as another one said, "Pati sa pagfifish ball nasampal ng kahirapan :) sinong nagfifishball with dior bag?"
Another fan imagined Heart telling the fish ball vendor, "Eto 1k keep the change," while others said, "Ikaw ang pinaka sosyal at pinaka class na nakita kung nagtusok-tusok" and "Fishball moment but make it soshal."
One fan, meanwhile, was happy to know that is at least one thing she can copy from her idol now.
"Sa lahat Ng pinosh mo Ms.Heart ito lang ung afford ko at kaya Kong gayahin Sayo fishball ❤️ anyway I really admire you ❤️❤️❤️" the fan wrote.
This is not the first time that the actress wowed her fans with her ability to turn the ordinary into fabulous. Earlier this year, Heart amused her followers with her post showing that she, too, fills her Chanel bag with fruits and canned goods. Apart from that, she previously drew laughter from her fans with candid photos of her crossing the streets of Paris while carrying a potted plant.
